GRANDVIEW, Missouri  — A group of young craftsmen are using their talents to give back to the metro.

Employees at Unruh Furniture in Grandview build one table each week to donate to a mother needing some extra help.

“This is the best job you can have in my opinion,” shop foreman Jacob Burkhalter said.

The owner, Sam Unruh, started the Tables for Moms program to help bring families together. Gathering with family around the dinner table has also been a fond memory of his.

“It’s the comradery of eating a meal around a table that’s so special and so family oriented,” Unruh said.

The men use their own supplies to craft each table, designed specifically to mother’s preferences.

“We work our hardest on the Tables for Moms,” Burkhalter said. “Because we want them to have the best of what we have.”
