RICHMOND, Va. — The main travel lanes on I-64 east will be closed from 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. Monday into Tuesday to help crews working to replace the Mechanicsville Turnpike/Route 360 bridge deck over the interstate.
“Traffic will be rerouted to the adjacent collector-distributor lane near mile maker 192,” VDOT spokeswoman Jessica Cowardin said via email. “Weather permitting, these work zones will be in place from Monday, March 16 through Thursday, March 19 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. The traffic shift will allow crews to accelerate demolition of the existing structure and provide added safety for both drivers and workers.”
If you travel in that area during those hours, VDOT offered the following detour information:
Take Exit 192/Mechanicsville/Rt. 360 to the collector-distributor lane. Drivers can access Mechanicsville Turnpike/Route 360 or continue back to Interstate 64 east after passing the work zone.
Additionally, the ramp from Mechanicsville Turnpike/Route 360 west to Interstate 64 east will be closed. Drivers can use the following detour to bypass the work zone:
Continue on Mechanicsville Turnpike/Route 360 to Fairmount Avenue east to Nine Mile Road/Route 33 east back to Interstate 64 east.
