Chesterfield driver in fatal Old Hundred Rd. crash wasn’t wearing seat belt

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va.  – The driver in a two-vehicle crash that left one dead on March 7 is under investigation by the Chesterfield County Police Department.

The crash occurred in the 4400 block of South Old Hundred Road at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

A Toyota Camry driven by David G. Holt, 47,  was traveling north on South Old Hundred Road when the driver lost control, crossed into the southbound travel lane and struck a Nissan Versa head-on.

Holt, of the 13900 block of Sterlings Bridge Road in Chesterfield, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver and passenger of the Nissan Versa were transported to Chippenham Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police continue their investigation into this crash. At this point, the investigation indicates Holt was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

There was another fatal crash in Chesterfield on Saturday night. Police identified the man who died after he ran off Winterpock Road, through a fence and into a tree, as 28-year-old Stephen H. Powell.
