NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. -- Virginia State Police have released the name of a 46-year-old Richmond man killed in a wreck along I-64 in New Kent County Sunday afternoon.
The crash occurred at 12:25 p.m., on I-64 west at the 219.9 mile marker, according to Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Vick. That's not far from the West Point exit.
Police said Anthony K. Purter, of Richmond, was killed after his Mercury Mountaineer ran off the road and struck several trees.
State police said Purter, who was wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.
Vick said speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash.
Troopers are investigating what caused the wreck.
