CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — The driver who was killed Wednesday morning on Beechwood Avenue in southern Chesterfield County was identified as Deron E. Reed, 22, of Waverly, police said. Reed was the only person in the car when it crashed. Investigators said it appeared the car ran off Beechwood Avenue and struck a tree. There were no tire skid marks near the crash scene, CBS 6 reporter Jake Burns said.

“Police continue their investigation into this crash. At this point, the investigation indicates that Reed was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash,” a Chesterfield Police spokesperson said via email. “A 2010 Nissan Sentra was traveling north on Beechwood Avenue when it left the road, went into a ditch and struck a tree.”
