RICHMOND, Va. – Governor Terry McAuliffe made an announcement Sunday evening that VDOT crews are prepared and ready to handle a statewide winter storm that is expected to hit the state early Monday morning.

“VDOT crews, equipment and resources are ready to go to treat and plow roads,” Governor McAuliffe said in a press release.  “Motorists should monitor weather reports and road conditions, and avoid or limit traveling when the storm occurs.”

According to VDOT, drivers should expect winter road conditions in the western part of the state early Monday morning and dangerously cold wind chills.  They advise drivers to prepare their cars with extra emergency necessities, like food, extra blankets, water, backup power for phones, etc.
