MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – Dominion Virginia Power has restored power to customers who were without any for nearly two hours after a driver lost control of his car, hitting a utility pole.

The accident, which happened at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, occurred at the intersection of Pole Green Road and Hanover Grove Boulevard in Mechanicsville.

According to Major Michael J. Trice of the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, a car ran off the right side of the road, striking the pole. He said that the driver was charged with reckless driving, but added that speed was not a factor.

The driver suffered a minor injury but refused treatment.
