DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. -- A Dinwiddie teenager was arrested and charged with the murder of his own father. James Patrick Faison, 18, has been charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, according to Dinwiddie Sheriff's deputies. Tuesday's fatal shooting ended a domestic dispute between the teenager and his dad, 42-year-old Irvin Wayne Faison.
Sheriff's deputies were called to the Faison home in the 4100 block of Lee Drive at about 3:30 p.m. There deputies found Irvin Wayne Faison deceased from a gunshot wound. James Patrick Faison was also inside the house. He was detained by officers and search warrant was executed at the house.
Neighbors said they were baffled at the broad daylight violence. Some said they had just seen Irving and James Faison working out in their yard Sunday. Deputies said they were still investigating the nature of the father-son argument.
Faison was booked, without bond, at Meherrin River Regional Jail in Alberta. He will be arraigned in Dinwiddie County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court on these charges, a procedural step because this was a domestic dispute.
