HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — After 30 weeks of intense training, you deserve a break, right? The latest class of Henrico County Police recruits took a break from training last month to shoot a funky music video. The 59th Academy recruit class’ video shows them working out to the Bruno Mars/Mark Ronson hit “Uptown Funk.”

“Training is very tough. This was a little celebration for them,” Henrico County Police spokesman Lt. Chris Eley said about the video shoot.

The video stars Recruit Logan Miller, a Longwood University graduate, dancing around while his fellow recruits workout (and try not to crack up).

While the video shoot did provide a nice break for the recruits, it was produced for other reasons as well.

“Our goal is to try and grow our social media presence,” Lt. Eley said. “We like to use social media to distribute crime prevention tips.”

Eley added the police department was proud of its physical fitness programs.

“We have Crossfit classes for public safety employees as well as fitness and wellness courses for all county employees.  All of our sworn personnel undergo annual physical assessments,” he said.

The 59th Academy officially graduates on February 19.
