Man whose body was found near historic cemetery was victim of homicide

DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. -- The State Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled Jeremiah Eugene Jones was the victim of a homicide. Jones died from multiple gunshot wounds, the Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday.

Jones' body was discovered near Poplar Grove National Cemetery over the weekend. The 33-year-old Petersburg man was reported missing on New Year's Eve. Neighbors who live near the woods happened to see the body while on a walk.
