HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — A driver told Henrico Police that when he left the VCU-area headed for the West End early Wednesday morning, he noticed a car following him down Broad Street. When the driver pulled over at a gas station near Westwood Avenue and Broad Street, he told police he thought the car had stopped following him. But when he got back on the road, he saw the car again, this time near Glenside Drive in western Henrico.

“He then drove down Glenside Drive to Bethlehem Road, eventually making his way to Wistar Road,” Henrico Police spokesman Lt. Chris Eley said. “When he got to Merchants Walk Shopping Center he stopped in the parking lot and cut his vehicle off. He again thought the suspect vehicle had stopped following him, when suddenly it pulled up beside him. The rear passenger of the suspect vehicle got out and opened the victim passenger side door. This suspect was armed with a handgun.”

Upon seeing the gun, Eley said the victim got out of the car and ran off. The suspects took the victim’s phone, keys and coat, Eley added.

Henrico Police provided the following description of the suspects:

Four black males, 20 – 26 years of age, 5’11”-6’1″, 140-160 lbs

The suspects were possibly operating a silver 4 Door Nissan Maxima or Altima

The crime was reported at about 12:09 a.m. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
