PETERSBURG, Va. -- After a successful five years in business, Saucy's Walk-Up Bar.B.Q. is now giving customers a new option for where they can eat. The Petersburg barbecue joint, which was named one of the South's best by Southern Living Magazine, recently expanded from the shipping container where it dishes out food to walk-up customers into a new space -- Saucy's Sit-Down Bar.B.Q.

Owner Tom McCormack and his wife Liz opened the sit-down restaurant in the old Nash Rambler showroom behind Saucy's Walk-Up in Old Town Petersburg. It took about eight months to put the space together and fill it with locally-sourced furniture and art.

"It was one of the places where they worked on Nash Rambler cars," McCormack said. "You can see features of that original business here in the room. There's an old car lift here in the room, we have a lot of exposed elements in here, elements like the brick work and the old beams."

McCormack said they relied on local artists, designers and other businesses to breathe life into the new barbecue dining room.

"These are the people who support us in our business. The people who come and eat at Saucy's are our neighbors and those are the people who we went back to and bought from them and built these elements that you see her in the restaurant," McCormack said. "Everybody who's involved with this project in with this restaurant is an artist at heart."
