NORFOLK, Va. – A Norfolk family is reunited with their lost (and stolen) dog thanks to the honesty of another local family.

Dana and Mike Jancarole’s dog Koda, a Husky, escaped from their yard on Halloween.

Koda was found, and then sold on Craigslist, by Jessica Colleran, who has since been arrested for selling stolen dogs, reported WTKR.

Stacy and Mike McCrossan said they paid Colleran $400 for Koda, who they named Wyatt, never suspecting that he had been stolen.

Then the McCrossans saw a picture of their new dog on the internet, realized he belonged to another family, and decided to give him back.

Dana knew right away they were being reconnected with their lost Koda.

“As soon as he came around that corner, she bolted towards him,” she said.

Tilly, the McCrossan’s dog also grew attached to Koda. Both families say they plan on keeping in touch so that Tilly and Koda can continue to have their playtime.

The Jancarole’s were so impressed with the honesty of the McCrossans that they are helping them find a new dog.

“It gives you hope to know that there are still good people out there,” she said. “That’s why we’re doing everything in our efforts to reward them what they’ve done for my family.”

WTKR also decided to pitch in as well. They presented the McCrossans with their “People Taking Action” award for their honesty, and also gifted them with a $300 gift card from their partners at Southern Bank.
