WATCH: Runners lace up shoes in memory of Hanover mother

RICHMOND, Va. -- As runners hit the streets in preparation for the Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10k other will be pounding the pavement in memory of a Hanover mother.

Some joggers donned blue in memory of Meg Menzie.

It's a part of an honor run to remember the woman hit and killed by a drunk driver while she jogged along a road in Hanover last January.

Those who are participating will post to social media using the #Megsmiles, which can been see as Meg's miles or Meg Smiles.

Meanwhile, runners still wanting to take part in the 10k can still do so.

People interested can sign up through the end of the month.

The price to register for the run is $35 but it will increase to $40 starting February 1st.

TheUkrop's Monument Avenue 10k will be held on March 28th.
