DINWIDDIE COUNTY, VA -- Chris Bean has lived at his Lee Avenue address in Dinwiddie for years, but for the last two years he has wondered why a sign has been missing from his street.
Bean said two years ago a VDOT snowplow "took out" a sign alerting drivers of the ditch that suddenly appears near the street near his home.
As a result, Bean said that drivers have to quickly avoid the ditch by making U-turns or even driving into neighbors' lawns.
"I have seen one vehicle straddle the ditch," Bean said.
Bean also pointed out that school buses go down the street and that a fire department nearby.

While Bean said he has called VDOT for the last six months, so far the missing sign has not been replaced.
"This here is a becoming a public safety issue," Bean explained.
VDOT told CBS 6 they will investigate Bean's complaint, but told our newsroom that they have no record of Bean's phone calls.
Bean admitted that he never wrote down the work ID number.
VDOT provided a statement encouraging Virginians to call the agency, saying "operators are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week for assistance and will provide citizens with work order numbers so they can check on the status of their reports."
At this point, Bean hopes the New Year will finally bring a new sign.
