Man tries hiding in shed after smashing into SUV parked outside Henrico home

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- A truck driver was charged with a variety of crimes including DUI and driving with a suspended license after he lost control of his vehicle, went airborne and flew into someone's front yard. The truck smashed into a Chevy SUV parked outside a Sandston home. The impact sent the parked Chevy flipping into the bushes.

"The driver fled on foot," Henrico Police spokesman Lt. Chris Eley said. "[He] was apprehended after he tried to enter a shed tool shed to avoid capture."

Police identified the driver as Michael Wayne Whitlock, 30, of North Fern Avenue in Highland Springs. That address is about two miles from the crash scene.

No one was seriously injured in the crash, according to police on the scene.

A tow truck driver was called to remove the truck from the property.

The accident, near the corner of N. Confederate Ave. and W. Magruder St. in Sandston, was reported at about 7 a.m.
