RICHMOND, Va. -- Police identified the man killed in a Tuesday night crash near the intersection of Jahnke and Spruance Roads in South Richmond.
"Crash investigators have determined, through forensic analysis and eyewitness reports, that Mariquis Morgan, 50, of McDonough Street, lost control of his vehicle while travelling westbound on Jahnke Road," Richmond Police spokesman Gene Lepley wrote in an email. "His vehicle crossed over the center line, collided with a vehicle travelling eastbound, then sheared off a utility pole and rolled over once before coming to rest against a tree."
Morgan was ejected from his Jeep and died on scene. The other driver was not injured.
The crash knocked out power to more than 1,000 Dominion Virginia customers.
The accident happened at about 8:09 p.m. Tuesday.
