Demonstrations heated up again on Wednesday after a grand jury in New York decided not to indict a police officer in the choking death of Eric Garner, an unarmed black man suspected of selling cigarettes illegally.

Four members of the Denver Police Department’s bicycle unit were injured after they were struck by a car while doing crowd control as a large group of high school students protested the Ferguson grand jury’s decision, CNN affiliate KUSA reported.

“Preliminarily we believe the vehicle that struck the officers… that driver was suffering from some kind of illness,” Denver Police Chief Robert C. White said. “So saying that we don’t it was his intention. But only that is part of the investigation.”

The driver and three police officers were taken to the hospital.

One of the officers is in critical condition and another is listed in serious condition.

The third officer was treated and released.

A fourth officer was hurt, but didn’t go to the hospital.
