HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Police arrested a 62-year-old man following a wild scene that unfolded in front of breakfast diners in Innsbrook Monday morning.

It began when police responded to the 11200 block of West Broad Street, in Short Pump, to investigate a larceny. Police were given the suspect's license plate number, Henrico Police spokesman Lt. Chris Eley said.

"Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver fled. Henrico Police pursued the vehicle until it stuck a responding police vehicle in the intersection of West Broad Street and Cox Road and became disabled," Lt. Eley wrote in an email.

A photo of the car in question showed it stopped on a median between Cox Road and the restaurant's parking lot.

Soon after the car stopped, a person in the car got out and ran behind the building. Henrico Police officers were able to quickly detain that person, the witness said.

"There are no injuries as a result of this event," Lt. Eley said.
