High-speed chase suspect drives into oncoming traffic on I-95 before flipping car

SUSSEX COUNTY, Va. – Virginia State Police say a 33-year-old man is a slew of charges after a high-speed chase on I-95 in Sussex County Sunday morning.

Troopers said 33-year-old Mario Pegram was spotted speeding near mile marker 16 in Sussex County around 7:30 a.m.

When a trooper tried to stop him officials said that Pegram kept driving, crossed the median and drove started driving the wrong way down the southbound lanes of the interstate at times in excess of 100 mph.

Troopers followed the suspect driving parallel.

Pegram eventually flipped his car after trying to avoid oncoming vehicles on the interstate.

He suffered minor injuries and was taken to Southside Regional Jail where he faces numerous charges including reckless driving.
