FORT LEE, Va. – More Central Virginia families are opening their homes to soldiers at Fort Lee, many of whom are spending the holidays away from home for the first time.
Col. Mary Beth Taylor, the Brigade Commander for the 23rd Quartermaster Training Brigade, said around 370 training soldiers were sponsored by area families this year.
“It’s a great opportunity for our warriors to go out and learn a little bit more about our community,” Taylor said.
Taylor thanked the families for inviting the soldiers into their homes and is hopeful the event will continue to grow.
You can contact the USO at Fort Lee if you would like to host soldiers for Thanksgiving or other holidays.
