FERGUSON, MO. — Intense video appears to show a situation where a woman defends a Papa John’s restaurant in Ferguson, Missouri from two looters during the protests that ignited after the grand jury decision not to indict police officer Darren Wilson, who fatally shot Michael Brown.
A masked man is seen in the video, uploaded on Wednesday, and it appears he is trying to destroy the window of a restaurant. That is when the unidentified woman intervenes.
The two exchange words and then another man paces back and forth and also seems to shout at the woman. She faces the two of them, and gestures with her hands.
The man in the mask moves past her and continues to try and break the window, kicking it repeatedly.
She is then shoved by the masked man, and loses her balance.
People can be heard in the background, expressing anxiety and begging her to move away but she holds her ground.
“She’s going to put her life in danger over a Papa John’s” one woman can be heard saying in the background.
CBS news reported that Joe O’Donnell, the owner of the Papa John’s, told the Business Journal that the woman does not work for the restaurant and he has no idea who she is.
“I was shocked when I saw it,” O’Donnell told the Business Journal. “We’ve been trying to figure out who it was.”
At least 12 buildings were burned down, several business were looted, and at least 29 arrests were made Monday night after the grand jury’s decision was announced.
