RICHMOND, Va–Thanksgiving is only a few days away, but one group brought the holiday a little early to those in need.
Hundreds of people filled Monroe Park near VCU campus for the 6th annual RVA Feed the City event.
Volunteers provided full Thanksgiving meals, winter clothes, haircuts, health screenings, and other free services to Richmond’s homeless and less fortunate.
Last year, the event fed over 1,500 men, women, and children.
A number organizers hope to reach again this year.
“This year we want to go a step further and provide a love experience in Monroe Park for our homeless citizens and those less fortunate by helping them to celebrate life despite the odds with feel good music, fellowship, much-needed resources and food,” said Tamir Francis, visionary and founder of RVA Feed the City.
The event is from 2pm-5pm at Monroe Park 620 W. Main Street.
