RICHMOND, Va. --Inside of his North Richmond home, musical director Stu Gardner plays one of the tunes he wrote and produced for The Cosby Show back in the 1980s. But the rape allegations against his longtime friend and colleague Bill Cosby have hit a sour note with him.

"It hurts.  Bill Cosby is a very nice man, and I don't want to see any of my friends go through any kind of problems like this.  This is a very damaging type of situation,” Gardner said.

Former supermodel Janice Dickinson is the latest victim to come forward accusing Cosby of such a crime.

"He gave me wine and a pill.  And the next morning, I woke up and I wasn’t wearing my pajamas," she recently said on Entertainment Tonight. "And I remember before I passed out that I had been sexually assaulted by this man."

Gardner described Cosby as a beloved family man.

"I feel that a lot of this comes from the fact that he's very vulnerable. He invites people into his life," Gardner said. "And you know for fact that everybody you into your life is not good people."

Gardner said he suspected the allegations have resurfaced because people are out for money and fame. He said he was not surprised Cosby refused to discuss the allegations with reporters.

"He's his own man.  He tells people exactly what he wants to tell them.  If he doesn't want to tell them anything, he won't tell them anything," Gardner said.

Stu Gardner does not believe allegations leveled against friend Bill Cosby.

Gardner said he has not heard from Cosby since the allegations resurfaced.

"Usually, Cosby will call me," Gardener said. “If he gets to a point where it becomes bothersome to him, he’ll call me up and he’ll start telling me jokes."
