HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Four accidents on Nine Mile Road in less than 24 hours Thursday have some people who drive the East End road blaming the drivers for what happened.

"There's no reason to have this many accidents" said Eddie Moore, whose small engine repair shop has been a fixture in the community for three decades.

He's not alone in thinking the speed limit should be dropped to one consistent speed instead of varying between 25, 30 and 40 mph.

"Nine Mile Road probably ought to be 30 miles an hour from the Mall all the way down to Airport Drive, actually all the way down to Williamsburg Road," Moore said.

Travis Bell agrees having watched for eight years as parents try to pull in and out of New Bridge Baptist Daycare

"No respect, people honk, people honk, people blow, people speed past, they'll hop in another lane to try and get past parents, it's crazy sometimes" Bell said.

Bell said it only takes a few minutes watching traffic to see where the speed limit changes.

"As soon as they come out of the 30, Highland Springs, it's like they speed up, going all the way down," Bell said.

Both Bell and Moore agree that Henrico police do a good job patrolling the area and nabbing speeders. However, both said more will have to be done to get drivers to slow down.
