Mom busted, charged with felonies after leading police on chase while driving daughter to school

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Police arrested a mother who led officers on a brief chase while taking her daughter to school Thursday morning in eastern Henrico. The  woman, who police identified as 35-year-old Shakira Scott, was charged with felony eluding police, felony child endangerment and various traffic violations following the two-minute pursuit that ended in the area of Ainsworth Lane and Nine Mile Road.

Police said they first attempted to pull over Scott for a traffic violation, but she did not stop. Police said they pursued her vehicle for about two minutes before the driver pulled over.

There were two Highland Springs High School students in the vehicle at the time. One of the students, police said, was the woman's daughter.

Scott's previous court records indicate multiple driving violations in Henrico dating back to 2005.
