VCU Medical Center is offering lung cancer screenings that could save lives

RICHMOND, Va - Dr. Mark Parker, Director of Thoracic Imaging at VCU Medical Center, showed us some examples of how smoking can affect our bodies and how people at high-risk for lung complications can qualify for free Lung CT screenings in November. Low-dose CT lung scans can save lifes by providing early detection and reduces lung cancer deaths by up to 20 percent. Long-term heavy current or former smokers aged 55-80 may qualify to receive a free lung cancer screen from the VCU Department of Radiology.
