PORTSMOUTH, Va -- A Portsmouth convenience store owner foiled a would-be robbery -- with a trash can.
A man walked into a Portsmouth convenience store on Saturday night with a white t-shirt covering his face. He showed a handgun and tried to rob the store.
With no gun, the store owner saw the closest thing he had to defend himself-- a trash can.
He then rammed the trash can into the masked man, pushing back the would-be robber about ten feet.
The robber did fire a shot during the scuffle. The bullet hit a nearby Mountain Dew cooler.
The suspect still has not been caught.
