DAYTON, Ohio — A 10-year-old girl who donated 14 inches of her hair to "Wigs for Kids" said that good deed made her the target of school bullies. Jetta Fosberg said she donated her hair because "it was just the right thing to do and it makes me feel good."

But soon after she returned to school with her short hair, Fosberg said classmates began to make fun of her new hairdo, calling her ugly and saying she must want to be a boy.

When Jetta's mother approached the principal about the bullying, she said he told her he did not know of any child who ever died from words and that Jetta should "toughen up and deal with it."

The company that manages Jetta's charter school confirmed it launched an investigation into a complaint filed by a parent.

The family has set up a Facebook page and has been overwhelmed with hundreds of responses supporting her daughter.
