MAPLE PARK, Ill. — A Illinois family has launched a social media campaign asking that Warner Bros. will allow their terminally ill father an advanced screening of “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.”
WGN reports that Scott Stouffer has cancer of the endocrine system and is not expected to make it to the movie’s release date in December.
The Stouffer family posted a video to YouTube saying that watching the “Hobbit” films together has been a family tradition of theirs.
The family hopes their creation of #HobbitMovieLastRequest will help spread word of their father’s dying wish to watch the movie before it’s released with his family.
They are asking that people from all over social media help them make this request happen by using #HobbitMovieLastRequest.
WGN reached out to Warner Bros. and they released this response:
“We at Warner Bros. Entertainment do our best to fulfill as many wishes as we can. Working with partners like Make A Wish Foundation, we grant wishes for children who have been diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses on a regular basis. Unfortunately, due to the volume of requests we receive, we are not able to grant individual requests.”
