Weekend Events: Armenian Food Fest, 4 Mile Walk/Run, Fido Fest, Field Day Of The Past

Time for another big food festival before fall sets in, the St. James 56th Annual Armenian Food Festival, runs Friday, & Saturday 11:30am - 9pm and Sunday, noon - 7pm., try the world-famous Hye Burger, the Bulghur Salad, Lupia, Derev and many more favorites. St. James is located at 834 Pepper Avenue,corner of Pepper and Patterson Avenues, there's also live music and dancing featuring the "Akh' Tamar Dance Group" and St. James Armenian Dance Ensemble. Walk or run in the Children's Hospital Foundation Four Mile Walk/Run Saturday, September 20th through historic neighborhoods in Richmond's Northside. There's also a Superkid Adventure Obstacle Course for children ages 5 - 10 held after the walk/race. The race starts and ends at Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU's Brook Road Campus, registration is $35. Cost for the Superkid Adventure Obstacle Course is $15 and registration includes a superhero cape, participation ribbon and goody bag. All proceeds benefit Children's Hospital Foundation, which supports programs and initiatives of Children Hospital of Richmond at VCU and other pediatric health care programs in the community. The walk/run is presented by American Family Fitness.

Active Aging Week, is September 22 - 27 throughout the Richmond Metropolitan area, kicking off Monday, September 22 at Senior Connections, 24 East Cary Street.  The week is a national initiative of the International Council on Aging , it encourages adults 50 and older to actively age in their communities.  Leading the campaign in the Metropolitan area is Sharon Brewer, the Chair and "Face" of Active Aging Week. Among Sharon's many gifts, she is an Ageless Grace certified educator and exemplifies "active again". Field Day Of The Past, September 19 - 21, Goochland County,  Gates Open 8am, Arts and Crafts, Exhibitors, and Displays close 6pm. Saturday Carnival will be open from 12pm-10pm, 7pm Evening Truck Pulls. Tickets $10 on Friday; $15 on Saturday; $10 on Sunday; $8 for Senior Citizens 65 and older; 12 and younger; Free Parking on Route 622 across from the main Pedestrian Gate.
