HAMPTON, Va. — As flood waters rose across Hampton Roads, emergency crews and first responders had to act fast. Hampton Police officer Joe Jansson came to work on his day off Tuesday to help with rescue efforts on Martha Lee Drive, the Hampton Police posted on social media.

“This little girl was very grateful to him and Officer Tim Jones for helping them escape the deep flood water surrounding their home,” Hampton Police posted on Facebook.

Hampton Police also advised most roads that were previously affected by high water were now passable.
