UPDATE: Police call Glen Allen park ‘luring’ unfounded

UPDATE: One day after Henrico Police alerted the public to a suspicious situation at a Glen Allen park, investigators called it “unfounded.”

“Police identified the person of interest involved in the suspicious situation occurring on RF&P Park on September 4, 2014. Detectives conducted a significant number of interviews, including the individual of interest,” Henrico Police posted on Facebook. ” After reviewing all of the facts associated with this case, it has been unfounded. The Police Division is extremely grateful to the community and the individuals who assisted in this investigation for their cooperation which helped bring this matter to closure.”

Police have not yet released further details in this case.

GLEN ALLEN, Va. -- Henrico police have alerted the public to a situation at the  RF&P Park in the 3400 block of Mountain Road that involved a man possibly trying to lure children to his vehicle.

On Thursday, Sept. 4 around 7:20 p.m., police said an unknown subject approached three young girls and offered to let the girls see his dog in the car. The individual continued to speak with them until an adult approached the vehicle, at which point the subject left the area.

The Glen Allen Youth Athletic Association released an email communication describing the situation, and warning parents.

The girls were playing on the hill between the concession building and the road, which leads to the lower parking lot, according to the email. The athletic complex is behind the Meadow Farm at Crump Park, and shares the same land.

Witness said the the man jumped into his truck when approached by the adult,  and took off really fast.

The suspect was last seen in RF&P Park near the parking area in a black or dark green Ford Ranger. This individual is described as being an older white male with a gray mustache,and in need of a shave. He was wearing red hat and red shirt at the time of the encounter.
