Opera returns to Dogwood Dell for an evening of Broadway & Opera Favorites. Virginia Opera, The Official Opera Company of the Commonwealth of Virginia, is back in Byrd Park for its 2nd annual Opera in the Park, Saturday, August 30th at Dogwood Dell Amphitheater, 6000 South Boulevard in Byrd Park. Come early last year Opera drew over 2,500 fans, the concert will start at 7:30pm. This year's Opera in the park is the kick off for the 40th Anniversary of Virginia Opera and features The Richmond Symphony .
Virginia Opera is also asking patrons to come dressed as Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Lovett for the costume contest, prizes include VIP ticket and dining packages based on popular vote of the audience. Opera in the Park is free and open to the public, there's also free parking at Dogwood Dell. Opera in the Park at Town point Park, Norfolk is Saturday, September 6.
