Engine malfunction causes boat fire at Watkins Landing

GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. — Deputies in Goochland say an engine malfunction led to an accidental boat fire at Watkins Landing Sunday morning.

Officials were called out to help the 16-foot fiberglass boat around 9:40 a.m.

By the time rescuers arrived, the two people on the boat had been rescued by another vessel.

No injuries were reported,  but the burned boat is a total loss.

The boat was pulled from the water around 11:20 a.m.
