Virginia Mega Mile AMA Pro Flat Track Motorcycle Race at Colonial Downs, Saturday, August 23rd, gates open at noon, opening ceremonies at 3:30pm, nine heat races and two Grand National Championship from 4pm – 7pm.  The country’s top flat track motorcycle riders will compete at speeds of 130 miles per hours over the largest oval on the AMA Pro circuit at 1 1/4 miles around.  Also enjoy a vintage motorcycle display, vendor marketplace, US Army recruit swearing-in ceremony at intermission, Purple Hear Fire Truck will be on display, Grand Marshal is 15-year-old Chesterfield amateur rider Tristan Avery. Virginia In Action For Liberia Against Ebola, is a campaign organized by Diaspora Liberians and friends in Virginia to provide support and resources needed to control the spread of the Ebola virus in Liberia.  VALAE with its partners The Virginia Baptist Mission Board and First Baptist will host a Prayer Vigil and kick-off event on Sunday, August 24, 5pm at First Baptist Church, 2709 Monument Avenue. VALAE is asking the public to donate sanitary items and medical supplies like: bar soap, fluid resistant gowns,  disposable boot & show covers, polycarbonate face shields, hospital masks, disposable aprons with sleeves & hair nets, splash protection safety goggles, surgical, examination, obstetrics Gynecology, latex & vinyl gloves (all sizes), disinfectants -Clorox bleach & bleach spray, Lysol spray, antibacterial hand sanitizer, disposable sanitizing wipes, empty bottles sprayers, alcohol & alcohol  wipes.
