BILOXI, Miss. – A truck driver is being called a hero by many after he selflessly took action that likely saved the lives of a grandmother and her 1-year-old granddaughter.

David Fredericksen had a dashcam rolling when a car slammed into a semi-truck along I-10 near Biloxi, Mississippi, several hundred feet in front of him.

The car immediately burst into flames as other drivers slammed on the brakes to avoid another crash. You can see one work van leave the scene in a hurry, driving over debris strewn around the highway.

In the video, which has an incorrect time stamp, you can hear Fredericksen contemplating what to do next as they watch the horrific scene.

He jumps out of his truck with a fire extinguisher and heads to the car.

After several other witnesses jumped in to help, they were able to pull the driver to safety.

Fredericksen’s son posted the video to YouTube Aug. 17 and said everyone survived the accident.
