Governor Terry McAuliffe has declared a special election for Nov. 4, 2014 to replace the congressional seat vacated by Representative Eric Cantor.

“I thank Congressman Cantor for his years of service to Virginia and for his fierce commitment to protecting Virginia’s economic and military assets as majority leader in Congress,” Gov. McAuliffe said. “Eric Cantor has dedicated his life to public service and I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.”

“In order to make this transition as smooth as possible for Congressman Cantor’s constituents and use Virginia resources most efficiently, a special election to fill the vacant seat will be held on Election Day, Tuesday, November 4th, 2014. Holding a special election on this day will ensure that the people of the 7th District will be represented as soon as practicable during the lame duck session and put Virginia’s congressional delegation in the strongest position possible at the beginning of the next congress.”

He was so out of touch with his district he had no idea he had a chance to get beat. As ignorant as todays Republican party is, I wouldn’t be surprised if Cantor and Bob McDonnell were nominated for president. Who ever they run will get spanked just like McCain and Romney did.

So basically the Governor has made it necessary for James Carr of the Libertarian Party to collect ANOTHER 1500 signatures in order to be eligible for the ballot. He already had to collect that many to be on the ballot to begin with and this is just another example of how the two party duopoly is persistent in keeping us from being able to vote for third party candidates, much less allow the general public to hear their viewpoints. This is disgusting and uncalled for.
