HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - A Chesterfield woman is facing charges after Henrico police said she posted inappropriate pictures of a female online.

"Most of the cases we've seen in the past have been men posting photos of women," said CBS 6 Legal Analyst, Todd Stone. "This is a little unique."

Crystal Cherry is charged with six counts of unlawful dissemination of an image, which is a misdemeanor.

Sources told CBS 6 that she posted photos of her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend on Instagram and Twitter back on July 3.

Stone said this is another case for the Revenge Porn law, which went into effect on July 1, just two days before the alleged crime happened.

"If this had occurred just a few days before then there's no law against it, then it would not be criminal, there would be no criminal charges," said Stone.

CBS 6's Chelsea Rarrick went to Cherry's home on Tuesday.  When asked about the charges, she had no comment.

Stone said we will likely see more "revenge porn" like cases in the future since the issue has become more public.

"It's something that's probably been happening for a long time and people didn't know that it was criminal so they are going to start pressing criminal charges," said Stone.
