HOUSTON, Texas  — A flag signed by Marines meant to be given to the family of fallen Marine Lance Cpl. Fred Maciel in 2005 somehow was lost before the flag reached the family. Now, almost a decade later, the flag is back where it belongs, with Maciel’s family.

The way the flag was discovered and returned is amazing.

According to KHOU, a man, who saw the heartfelt messages on it, bought it for $5 at a flea market. He and his family tracked down Maciel’s mom and returned it to her.

That man is a hero for going to all that trouble for someone he did not know, and I believe her son is smiling right now.
