RICHMOND, Va. – The City of Richmond is looking for an artist.

“The City’s Public Art Commission seeks to commission an artist to create outdoor public art along the James River adjacent to or within the project site for the Brown’s Island Dam Walk and Southbank Pathways,” Public Art Commission Secretary Matthew Ebinger wrote in an email. “The estimated budget for this project is $200,000.”

The money would pay for design, fabrication, delivery and installation of the art. It would also cover the artist fee and travel costs.

Artists who are interested in applying should read the Request for Qualifications, the city advised.  The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on September 5, 2014.

The Riverfront Public Art Project #1 Site Selection Team (SST) will select the artist, approve the artwork, and select and approve the artwork location.
