PRINCE GEORGE, Va. — Carolina the cat was discovered as a stowaway when a New York family stopped for fuel off of Interstate 95.

The Haggerty family were traveling back home to Walton, New York, after vacationing in North Carolina.

The couple stopped  for gas off of Interstate 95, and that’s when they overheard an unusual sound coming from their engine.

An attendant started investigating and discovered the sound was actually a five-week-old kitten meowing.

The kitten decided to leave her North Carolina roots and find greener pastures in Virginia.

Carolina was unharmed during the travel.

The Shell employees who helped get her out of the engine compartment said that “the guys had to remove the front air dam and reach in to get her out she was glad to get some water and fresh air!”
