SHORT PUMP, Va. – NASCAR owner Rick Hendrick has agreed to buy Dominion Chevrolet-Buick-GMC from Henrico car dealer Ted Linhart. The sale is expected to close this fall.

“It is rare that we have the opportunity to acquire an organization that has such an outstanding track record,” Hendrick said in a statement. “We are excited about the prospect of taking the work that Ted and his team at Dominion have done to the next level.”

The sale would include three Dominion dealerships and land in Short Pump. Founded in 1955, the Dominion Short Pump dealerships have been owned by the Linhart family from the beginning.

“I am very pleased for our employees and customers that a world-class organization like the Hendrick Automotive  Group is keenly interested in continuing our 59-year tradition of sales and service excellence in the Richmond area,” Dominion Auto Group Chairman Ted Linhart said.

Terms of sale were not disclosed.

Hendrick Automotive Group runs 93 dealerships in 13 states including Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.  Hendrick’s NASCAR team includes Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon and Kasey Kahne.
