CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. - Police arrested a Richmond man accused of robbing a Chesterfield store early Saturday morning.
Steven Velazquez, 53, is charged with robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a Schedule I/II controlled substance. Velazquez robbed the Buford Road Walgreens about 4 a.m. Saturday, according to police.
"The suspect entered the store, approached the pharmacist and demanded pills," police said. "The suspect told the victim he was armed, but no weapon was displayed. The suspect fled the store with an undisclosed number of pills."
Security cameras showed the robber drive off in a silver, older-model Volvo station wagon, police said. When police tracked down that vehicle, it was parked in a lot along the 6500 block of Midlothian Turnpike.
Police arrested Velazquez when he returned to the car.
