Tough Mudder 01
DOSWELL, Va. – Ask any of the people who took part in the Tough Mudder obstacle course over the weekend at Meadow Event Park in Doswell and they will tell you it was hard. Most of those people ran the course with two legs. Matthew White did not.

United States Army Veteran Sgt. Matthew White lost a leg when an IED exploded in Afghanistan in May 2010.

White participated in the Tough Mudder on Sunday to help raise awareness for Operation Enduring Warrior, a Richmond-based non-profit.

“I loved running with Operation Enduring Warrior,” White said. “I’ll definitely do this again–what they do for wounded veterans is a great mission.”

“Operation Enduring Warrior is a veteran operated non-profit organization whose mission is to honor, empower and motivate America’s wounded military service members,” the group described itself online. “Our physical, mental and emotional rehabilitative cycle is modeled to overcome adversity and hardship through innovation, teamwork and perseverance; ultimately enabling Wounded Warriors’ lives to go in directions they once thought impossible.”
