Garbage truck, sedan crash closes Woodpecker Road

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) -- A two-vehicle crash involving a garbage truck closed Woodpecker Road near Cattail Road Monday afternoon.

Police were called to the intersection of Woodpecker Road and Cattail Road around 1 p.m. after a garbage truck and a Ford Taurus collided.


Officials said that the Taurus, which was traveling on Cattail Road, ran through a stop sign at the intersection and was struck by the truck.

The impact of the crash caused both vehicles to flip and the driver of the Taurus was ejected.

The driver of the Taurus was transported to VCU Medical Center, where her injuries were found to be life threatening.

The driver of the garbage truck was transported to St. Francis Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.


Officials said Woodpecker Road will be closed for several hours as police investigate this crash.
