NEWTOWN COUNTY, Indiana (WLFI/CNN) - While Brayden Denton was fighting cancer, his mother said it was a battle fit for a superhero. The five-year-old Indiana boy lost that battle this month. In the months leading up to his death, Brayden's brain tumor took away many of his abilities.

"He stopped completely walking. Then we got through that hurdle. Then he started not being able to eat or drink," Brayden's mother Staci Denton said. "[Then he] basically he stopped breathing."

While she planned her son's funeral Staci said she wanted loved ones to represent what Brayden loved the most -- superheroes.

"He was a huge Spider-man fan," she said. "He had to quit just liking Spider-man because he had all the toys. So really he liked every superhero."

So Brayden's pallbearers dressed as the child's favorite superheroes.

"It was hard, but I did it for him," uncle Cory Denton said. "We went to the Superman movie with him and he was dressed up as Superman. I watched all the Ironmans with him."

Brayden's family said a superhero funeral is what he would've wanted.

Staci Denton donated her son's tumor to cancer research.
