Deadly wreck shuts down Jeff Davis Highway

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) -- Richmond police are investigating a fatal accident Monday afternoon on Jefferson Davis Highway.

Richmond police said the wreck involved a tow truck and the 3020 block of Jefferson Davis near Summer Hill Avenue.

Crews were dispatched around 4:20 p.m. after a Ford pickup truck and a tow truck collided.

The driver of the pickup was taken to VCU Medical Center, but died at the hospital.

The crash team is still investigating what caused the wreck.

Police said northbound Jeff Davis Highway from the 3000 block to the 2900 block will be shut down until around 7 p.m.
