Suspect arrested in E. Main Street apartment shooting

UPDATE: Richmond Police have identified the victim and made an arrest in the Saturday morning homicide on E. Main St. Detectives identified the victim as Phillip O. Nikolenko, 26, of the 3800 block of Pumpkin Seed Lane, Henrico.

Officers arrested Quinn E. Hazelwood, 27, at the scene of the shootings.

Hazelwood is charged with voluntary manslaughter.

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - One man was killed and a second man hurt in a shooting at the American Heritage Apartments at 1001 E. Main St., near the Virginia State Capitol, in downtown Richmond.

Police responded to the shooting about 12:40 a.m. Saturday.

"Officers arrived and found two males in an upper floor hallway suffering from gunshot wounds. One male was dead at the scene. The other male was transported to VCU Medical Center with injuries that are considered life threatening," Richmond Police emailed Saturday morning. "Richmond Police detectives are in the early stages of a death investigation."

The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
