POWHATAN, Va. (WTVR) – Virginia can lay claim to many a stellar brewery, and this weekend about 20 of them will be spotlighted at the fourth annual Virginia Hops and Barley Festival.

festival posterYou can expect music, beer, and food. The promoters say you can expect more than 30 different Virginia craft beers, so it’s a great opportunity to get out there and try new brews.

Tickets will be $25 at the gate, $20 in advance and that gets you samples of the available beer. You can purchase full size beers if you wish.  Wine will also be available.

The event is held at the Historic Malvern Farm in Powhatan, at Route 288 and Huguenot Trail.

An ATM will be on site and non-alcoholic beverages will be sold. There is a designated driver (or non-taster) ticket for $10.

You can bring lawn chairs, but umbrellas, coolers, outside food and pets are not allowed.

Music starts at 1 p.m. and runs through the whole event, which is 1 – 8 p.m. with last call 15 minutes before the festival ends.
